HSK1:Basic level. At this level, you can understand and use simple words and phrases. The words you need to know are 150 plus.
HSK2:Basic level. At this level, you can converse about ordinary themes such as interests, yourself, and your family. You must know more than 300 words at this level.
HSK3:Intermediate level. You can conduct basic communication in daily life, study, and work. At this level, you need to know more than 600 words and at least 600 characters.
HSK4:Intermediate level. You can discuss a wide range of topics in Chinese and can communicate with native Chinese speakers fluently in common situations. You need to know at least 1200 plus words and up to 1000 characters.
HSK5:Advanced level. At this level, you can read newspapers and magazines, watch Chinese films, and write well-structured texts, and articles as well as deliver speeches. You need to know about 2500 plus words and 1500 characters.
HSK6:Expert level. At this level, you can easily understand what you read, hear, express your feelings fluently and write about anything. So basically, you become an expert in the Chinese language. At this level, you need to know more than 5000 words and 2500 characters.
